During one unusually hot and tragic weekend, four people struggle after hearing some life-changing news, this in turn brings them together.
 
A young boy tries to cope with rural life circa 1950s and his fantasies become a way to interpret events. After his father tells him stories of vampires, he becomes convinced that the widow up the road is a vampire, and tries to find ways of discouraging his brother from seeing her. He must deal with an abusive mother, a father with a charge of molestation, a band of youths creating havoc, and an unforgiving environment in general.

Synopsis:

New York police are bemused by a spate of reports of a giant flying lizard that has been spotted around the rooftops of New York, which they assume to be bogus until the lizard starts to eat people. An out-of-work, ex-con piano player is the only person who knows the location of the monster's nest and is determined to turn the knowledge to his advantage, but will his gamble pay off or will he end up as lizard food?
Rob Gordon is the owner of a semi-failing record store in Chicago where he sells music the old fashioned way- on vinyl. He's a self-professed music junkie who spends his days at Championship Vinyl with his two employees Dick and Barry. Although they have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and are consumed with the music scene and creating their all-time favorite top-five lists of subject specific songs, it's of no help to Rob whose needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend Laura walks out on him. As Rob examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness the process finds him being dragged kicking and screaming into adulthood.
